I'm Leslie P. Garcia
Writing has been part of my life since my first story, "Ricky and Tricky's Christmas" was "published" on my school's bulletin board when I was six. Writing continues to be one of my passions. I also am an elementary teacher (first grade), a mother of four, and a devoted pet owner.

I graduated from Laredo State University, now Texas A & M International University,or TAMIU, and received my master's degree in English from TAMIU. My work has previously appeared in McCall's, Cat Fancy, The Friend, Touch, and other publications, and my first book length romance, Love's Lasting Song, is now available from Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, Booksamillion, and iUniverse, the publisher. You can also check your local bookstore; if it's out of stock, they probably can order it for you.

Diamondhope Enterprises came about as part of my ongoing dreams
of owning a thoroughbred racing stable. My horses would race under my blue and gold colors, and win the Triple Crown every year. Dreams change, go, and grow, but the name stays. Although I know now I will never raise thoroughbreds, the name that would have been my stable name will always keep me in touch with those goals that I continue to pursue.

One of my goals, as the site grows, is to make available to educators easy to use incentives, lesson expansions, and materials that I have designed and use in my classroom. These are materials that many, given time, could create, but how many classroom teachers are blessed with time? This part of Diamondhope will be available soon, so watch for upcoming announcements!

Family
We've all heard that an organization is only as strong as its weakest link. . .luckily, the links in this family project are pretty solid.

My oldest son, Cruz, Jr. is a p. e. teacher and high school football coach.

Daughter Jamie is a paraprofessional at an elementary school, and will graduate from TAMIU soon.

Son Gregory is a freshman at TAMIU, and also plans to make coaching and education his career.

Finally, Lee is a junior at the kids' alma mater, Martin High, and excels both academically and in volleyball. She wants to be a psychiatrist. We think she should hurry.

(My husband of 27 years, Cruz, prefers to remain behind the scenes.)

In addition to my children, my two sisters, Vicky in Alabama, and Stephanie,in Texas, represent important contributors morally and artistically. Vicky is a professional editor, and Stephanie is a print journalist--so I often shout for help. Stephanie's first novel, Heart Shadows, a Christian mystery, is available from Barnes and Noble, Amazon, iUniverse, and Booksamillion, or your local bookstore. Meet my sisters, along with the kids, in the Photo Album.
